Richard is the CEO of Riipen, an online platform that connects students with companies through short-term projects early on in the students’ post-secondary education. Founded by students for students, Richard joined the Riipen team after the co-founders presented him with the idea of using in-class projects to gain experience outside of the classroom. Experiential Education is important to Richard, which stemmed from working for years at Outward Bound Costa Rica. Challenging students to learn and grow is his passion. In total, Richard has lived in 6 countries across 4 continents both working and studying. He holds a Bachelor of International Business, as well as an MBA and an MSc in Corporate Finance. Richard is a PhD Candidate at the University of Victoria, where he focuses on Social Entrepreneurship. As part of the experiential requirements of his doctorate degree, Richard also teaches entrepreneurship and finance at Capilano University.
