Dave is a diversity and inclusion consultant and sits on the advisory board of Marigold Capital, a venture capital which uses a gender lens to inform impact investing. He was an Equity and Diversity Consultant with the City of Toronto providing subject matter expertise on projects related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Prior to that, Dave was the Inclusion and Innovation Builder at Shopify where he contributed to the development of the diversity and inclusion strategy, and concurrently the Community Outreach and Consultation Advisor for the Independent Street Checks Review, which examined Ontario’s regulation on police street checks or “carding” as it is sometimes called.
Dave serves as a member of the Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the Screening Committee for the Black Innovation Fellowship at Ryerson University’s DMZ. He is also a member of the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto’s Community Advisory Committee, addressing the overrepresentation of Black children and youth in care and the disparity in treatment towards Black families, and a member of the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine’s MD Admissions Patient Engagement Committee. Dave was a member of Toronto Police Service’s Police and Community Engagement Review Advisory Committee to deliver bias-free policing and served on the Board of Directors of Black Health Alliance where he organized forums on mental health in the Black community.
