We Continue to Push Boundaries with IgniteHR

On May 15th we’ll be heading to Omaha, Nebraska to run our 11th SocialHRCamp. Like each of our past Camps this one is going to be unique. This will be the first time the Omaha (and near-by Lincoln) HR community will have the opportunity to experience SocialHRCamp. The agenda is currently being created and curated with the local community in mind—meshing together their immediate needs with hot industry trends. We will be publishing version 1 of the agenda very soon, but what we are also excited about is the opportunity to experiment with new ideas and take a few risks. For those that know us they know that we are not averse to risk-taking. Many worked out and may did not… but… we know that you can’t progress without taking a few risks.

So what tricks do we have up our sleeve this time around? Well… we will be integrating the popular IgniteHR platform into SocialHRCamp Omaha. Led by industry thought-leader Jason Lauritsen of Camp sponsor Quantum Workplace, we will dedicate a good portion of the morning to run IgniteHR.

Jason Lauritsen IgniteHRWhy Are We Doing This?

Why not? In all seriousness, we view the IgniteHR platform as another method of learning. It’s interesting, inspiring and creative, just like SocialHRCamp. It’s also a well-recognized initiative in the local Omaha HR community, and it complements what SocialHRCamp is all about. It just makes sense.

What is IgniteHR?

IgniteHRInspired by the original Ignite platform, IgniteHR runs a series of high-octane, thought-provoking and energetic 5-minute presentations that consist of 20 slides that change every 15 seconds. A facilitated discussion is followed up after each session with the audience to talk about key learnings, ideas and strategies that the audience can potentially take away and use.

One of the cool things about IgniteHR is the speakers are not professional, or even amateur speakers. They’re HR & Recruitment Practitioners like you and I who have a bold idea, want to share it with the world and have the guts to get up in front of a crowd and make their case heard. We are currently looking for speakers and we encourage anyone and everyone to submit a short proposal—click here to access the main SocialHRCamp Omaha page, and scroll down to access the submission form.

There are only 2 conditions. First, your topic must relate in some fashion to social media and/or technology in the workplace, and second, you can’t pitch a product or service. It’s about learning, inspiration, idea generation and pushing boundaries.

The deadline for submissions is April 13th. So what are you waiting for? Get on it immediately and submit your proposal and be part of the IgniteHR and SocialHRCamp Omaha 2015 experience.
