A major part of the original vision for SocialHRCamp was to incorporate an element of philanthropy. In late 2011 when the SocialHRCamp concept was being created, Camp Founder Jeff Waldman was unclear how philanthropy would be woven into the fabric of the community-based platform. This changed in 2014, year 3 of SocialHRCamp’s existence with the formulation of a partnership with Free The Children, an international charity and educational partner. A project was initiated to directly fund the building of a school in the Amazon region of Ecuador, specifically the communities of Mondaña and Bellavista in the Napo province. 60% of SocialHRCamp ticket proceeds will be donated to support this initiative, along with a public campaign that will tap into the broader community.
“In North America having access to high-quality and free public education is a core value, which plays a huge role in the development of our people. Being a father of 3 young children, having the opportunity to support a project that gives the children of these communities the opportunity that my boys have is both an honour and personal responsibility”.
Jeff Waldman — Founder, SocialHRCamp

About Free The Children
Free The Children is an international charity and educational partner that believes in a world where all children are free to achieve their fullest potential as agents of change. They work domestically through We Day and We Act to educate, engage and empower youth to become active local and global citizens.
